Born is Russia, Doe Deere emigrated to New York with her family when she was very young. Forced to live in a homeless shelter for a while, Doe Deere dreamed of owning her own business and being a great success. Initially, making it in the fashion industry was her goal. She attended Fashion Institute of Technology, created a website, and attempted to market the clothes she designed. When she didn’t attain the level of success she desired, she turned her attention to the music industry. She did shows and recorded music first with a band and later as a solo artist.

With the encouragement of the people on her online makeup tutorial, she began offering the makeup she produced for sale. That was the roots of Lime Crime cosmetics. The people on her makeup tutorial were right. People loved the brightly colored cosmetics she created by hand. In no time she had customers of all ages and from all parts of the world clamoring for more of her Lime Crime cosmetics.

These days Lime Crime cosmetics are an international phenomenon. Users send her pictures of the innovative ways they have used the makeup to beautify themselves. She posts the photos on the Lime Crime website for others to see and draw inspiration. This has helped to become an organic community. Did You Know Successful Wikipedia Entries Must Align With Bureaucratic Paradigms?

Contrary to popular expectations, a recent study published in Science Alert determined Wikipedia to be a much less egalitarian forum than envisaged. Researchers at Indiana University analysed 15 years of Wikipedia entries and found an “iron law of oligarchy,” an elite with power over the majority of the egalitarian system. Although power over other contributors was not intended as a goal, contributors can achieve ranks that provide additional editorial privilege. Thus, contributors to Wikipedia must be aware of paradigms, and they must be obedient to the archetype.

Currently over 30,000 people contribute to Wikipedia. However, the norms used for interaction and content editing and selection were established by fewer than 100 contributors. Eighty nine percent of norms were established pre-2004. Norms have not developed in the democratic fashion one would expect from an institution founded on the precept of equality of access. As a result, despite the ability of anyone to contribute to Wikipedia and the ability of anyone to edit an entry, successful Wikipedia entries need to comply with established norms. Professional writers with experience navigating these norms create more successful Wikipedia articles in terms of promoting content and by aligning with the archetypes established by Wikipedia.

Due to Wikipedia’s populist editorial policies, users can edit any article, altering text in variance with the intent of the initial contributor. However, this can be problematic if an inexperienced contributor creates a Wikipedia page but does not have the experience to ascribe to norms and maintain the original intent of the content page. Professional services can assist businesses or other organizations to navigate the community norms. Additionally, these professional services can monitor pages to assure continuity of content. Although most editors contribute in good faith, some work maliciously to alter content. Frequent attention is necessary to assure preservation of content.

As every language community supports different community norms, a professional service can create a Wikipedia page that aligns with the community’s manual of style. Global intercourse can be facilitated by experienced contributors.

As in many established bureaucracies, successful Wikipedia contributors bring experience with cultural norms, and they maintain these cultural norms into the future. These paradigms may strengthen or undermine an endeavor, but acknowledgement of the norms is necessary to navigate the organization.

Kevin Seawright Leads Youth Employment Initiative

As was recently reported by KIIITV in New Jersey, leader Kevin Seawright has been breaking new ground in a youth employment initiative. As CFO of the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation (Newark CEDC), Mr. Seawright is uniquely qualified to lead the initiative. Through it, young people will gain employment opportunity and training in fiscal management to enhance success in their futures.

In partnership with NewarkWorks and local business leaders, The Newark Community Economic Development Corporation hopes to bolster the Summer Youth Employment Plan, which will give six weeks of paid employment and hopefully enhance community college graduation rates. Not only will one-the-job training take place. Also, empowerment lectures and education in fiscal management will be given to enhance the long-term success of these fortunate young people.

This is the first year that applications for the program are require to be made online. In days past, the time-consuming paper application process might take six weeks. Mr. Seawright was delighted to remark that the same process has been reduced to a “thirty minute event.”

A goal of the 2016 program is to increase the number of summer employment opportunities from 3,000 to 3,500. Also, by partnership with Santander and TD banks, financial literacy has been maximized. This was an outcome of Mr. Seawright’s dutiful advocacy with these business leaders.

It is not surprising that Seawright has been leading this initiative so successfully. He has a long track record of experience in leadership roles making a positive difference in the community. Before serving as Chief Financial Officer of the Newark CEDC, he was Chief Financial and Facilities Manager for a Maryland Department of Recreation and Parks.

His experience includes managing budgets in excess of $200 million annually, and has been in charge of $600 million in capital funding for schools and related facilities, both to upgrade existing structures and create new ones. Although his career is in the non-profit sector, he has understood the significance of the private sector business, and knows how to reach out to them.

As for his success in this arena, Kevin Seawright is quick to say “you are only as good as your team.” As a team player, he also knows how to build one and keep it motivated. He was selected to be the recipient of the 2010 MetLife Bridges to the Future award, in recognition of his intelligence in handling large and complex financial issues.

Thor Halvorssen Explains Socialism with Fox News

Fox News recently ran a piece on how Bernie Sanders is a socialist trying to bring about socialistic change to the United States. To be interviewed, Fox News brought Thor Halvorssen on the show. Halvorssen is the founder of the Human Rights Foundation. The first question aimed at Halvorssen was to explain how socialism violates basic human rights. Instead of answering a possibly loaded question and remain very clear, Halvorssen qualified the statement by saying that socialism is not inherently a violation of basic human rights.

Halvorssen cited examples such as Denmark, Norway and Sweden, the same countries Bernie Sanders often mentions, to describe how socialism can operate on an optimal level while human rights are still protected and important. Halvorssen said that as long as there is a system of checks and balances with separation of powers as well as constitutional rights set in place that socialistic governments can operate for the good of the people. He does acknowledge that when used as a guise for control and power by corrupt individuals or parties, socialism can violate basic human rights.

After hearing his detailed response, the Fox News interviewer asks Halvorssen to define socialism. Again, being very careful of his answer, Halvorssen admits there is not one overarching definition of socialism. There are many different perspectives as well as applications. To keep things simple, the Fox News reporter asks Halvorssen what his main problem with socialism is. Having much experience and expertise in Venezuelan policies, Halvorssen uses the South American country as an example of how the people can be looted. He reveals that the government can fix prices on goods however they please which is leading directly to a humanitarian crisis.

Tying the conversation back into Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders, Halvorssen admits that he has donated the full amount possible to the campaign of Bernie Sanders. The Fox News reporter seems surprised and asks the reasoning behind this decision. Halvorssen then begins to explain how Sanders’ rival Hillary Clinton has been taking money from dictatorships such as Saudi Arabia, Oman and many more. He said he would much rather have Bernie Sanders as the party’s front runner.

Martin Lustgarten on the European Union

Many are extremely anxious about conditions in the European Union ahead of the European Commission meeting set to start on May 3, 2016. Some are extremely optimistic that great news will be released during the meeting.
According to an article published via the New York Times, the euro advanced 0.6 percent in the first quarter of the year when compared against the fourth quarter of 2015. Analysts predict that the gross domestic product for the year will raise 2.2 percent for the first time since the banking crisis began in 2008. Yet, many say that it is to early to celebrate with unemployment rates remaining near 10 percent.
Some countries continue to fare better than others. In Germany, the export rate for February grew 4.1 percent compared to the same period in 2015. The Netherlands continue to see a gross domestic product rate nearly 4 percent higher than the rest of the European Union and unemployment rates there are the lowest in the union at just 3.3 percent. In Germany, take home pay has grown nearly 15 percent over the last decade.
Other countries in the European Union have not fared nearly as well. In Italy, take home pay has shrank 4 percent over the last decade but these residents are still doing better than in Greece where disposable income has shrank nearly 24 percent and in Cyrus where it has shrunk almost 22 percent.
The major concern across the 19 countries, however, remains the effect of the slowdown of the economy in China.
Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, investment banker Martin Lustgarten knows that it is hard to stay abreast of all the changing market conditions. Yet, he says that global market conditions pay a huge role in investment decisions. Therefore, he suggests that you work closely with an experienced investment banker who has many years of experience.
Martin has extensive experience in Venezuela and Austria that may help investors make great decisions. He also has contacts around the globe that he can rely on when he does not know the answers himself. He believes that when investors have as much information as possible, then they can make wise decisions. He also has an impressive SoundCloud account you’ll want to check out.
